Rock Hill – Mary White Hinson, 92, formerly of Indian Land, died Tuesday, Jan. 10, 2012, at The Sterling House.
A Fort Mill native, she was a daughter of the late William and Mary Nims White. She was the widow of J. Max Hinson Sr. She was a member of Doby's Bridge Presbyterian Church. The first librarian to serve in Fort Mill, she served from 1964 to 1985. There is a room in the Fort Mill Library named after her. As a youth, she was a competitive swimmer and diver and she loved to play golf barefooted.
Survivors include her son, Joe Max Hinson Jr.; three grandchildren, Joe Max Hinson III, Marshall Odell Hinson and Adam Jason Hinson; and four great grandchildren, Amy Lynn Hinson, Leigh Ann Hinson, Sarah Lee Hinson and Joe Max Hinson IV.
Memorial services will be at 11 a.m. Friday, Jan. 13, at Dobys Bridge Presbyterian Church, conducted by the Rev. Edgar McCall, with burial in Unity Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 11, at Doby's Bridge Presbyterian Church.
