The Indian Land girls basketball team highlighted Warriors’ Senior Night Feb. 7 as the Lady Warriors rolled over Central of Pageland for their first region win this season.
The IL girls led from start to finish on the way to a 62-49 win over the Lady Eagles.
“I was very proud of the way we played,” IL coach John Phillips said. “We hit our shots and rebounded well. We were aggressive and kept attacking them.”
Sistare and Floyd teamed for 42 points to pace the IL girls’ 13-point win.
Sistare netted 22 points, 13 in the first half, to help IL to a 27-14 halftime lead. Sistare scored 10 of 11 free throws in aiding the win.
Floyd scored 20 points, 14 in the second half.
The Lady Warriors made 13 of 15 foul shots in the third quarter to help build a 43-32 edge on the Lady Eagles.
Floyd netted nine in the final quarter to help seal the win.
Kelsey Young was also in double figures with 10. Toi Lathan scored seven and Kelsey Nesmith added four.
Central upsets Warriors, 77-74
In the boys’ game, Central stunned Indian Land, holding on for a 77-74 win over the Warriors.
IL led 43-41 at the half, but Central used a key 10-0 run to help build a 66-58 lead after three quarters.
IL led 74-73 after Chris Barnes scored late, but Central’s Jalen Covington and Quinton Wallace both scored to lift Central to the win.
Sawyer scored 19 points to lead Indian Land. McCall and Chris Barnes each netted 11. Mc-Griff and Davis each scored nine. Butler scored seven. Tyler Watson scored four. Marty Cauthen had three and McMillan added one point.
