County health commission meets

The Lancaster County Health and Wellness Commission meets at 11:45 a.m. June 14 at the Lancaster Council on Aging, 309 S. Plantation Road, Lancaster.

Community relations commission meets

The Lancaster County Community Relations Commission meets at 6:30 p.m. June 15 at the Lancaster County Administration Building, 101 N. Main St., Lancaster.

IL Action Council to meet June 15

The Indian Land Action Council meets at 7 p.m. June 15 at Del Webb Library at Indian Land, 7641 Charlotte Highway. 

The speaker will be S.C. District 45 House Rep. Brandon Newton, who will bring an update on state news from Columbia. 

Other county board and commission members will be available for questions. The public is invited.

SCETV hosts District 5 candidate forum

S.C. Educational Television will host a S.C. 5th congressional candidate forum that will air at 7:30 p.m. June 15. The forum will be mediated by the dean of the College of Information and Communications at the University of South Carolina, former CNN Senior Washington Correspondent and ABC News Moscow Bureau Chief, Charles Bierbauer.

The Lancaster County Planning Commission meets at 6:30 p.m. June 20 at the Lancaster County Administration Building, 101 N. Main St., Lancaster. 

PV fire district board meets

The Pleasant Valley Fire Protection District Commission meets at 7 p.m. June 20 at the Pleasant Valley Volunteer Fire Department, 9370 Possum Hollow Road.

IL fire district board meets June 21

The Indian Land Fire Protection District Commission meeting is 7 p.m. June 21 at the Indian Land Volunteer Fire Department, 185 Six Mile Creek Road.

County school board to meet June 27

The Lancaster County Fire Commission meeting is 7 p.m. June 29 at the Emergency Operations Center, 111 Covenant Place, Lancaster.

The Lancaster County Board of Zoning Appeals meeting is 6 p.m. July 13 in Council Chambers at the county administration building, 101 N. Main St., Lancaster.

Library board to meet July 25

The Lancaster County Library Board of Trustees meeting is 6:30 p.m. July 25 in the Caroliniana Room of the Lancaster County Library, 313 S. White St., Lancaster. 

Lancaster County Republicans meet

The Lancaster County Republican Party meeting is 7 p.m. Aug. 24, at the office of Mike Williams Builders, 1351 Charlotte Highway, Lancaster. The public is invited to attend. 

CCA offers help with energy bills

The Lancaster County office of Carolina Community Actions Inc. is taking applications to help low-income families with home energy bills and other programs and services. Family households must be income-eligible and provide supporting documents to qualify. Apply 9 a.m.-4 p.m. Monday-Thursday at 101 Wylie St., Lancaster. For details, call (803) 285-2034.

Senior rental help available

The Lieutenant Governor’s Office on Aging administers an emergency rental assistance program for seniors funded through the S.C. Finance and Development Authority.

The program provides short-term help to low-income seniors ages 60 and older. It provides money for rent, which is sent to the property owner or landlord.

Recover lost property from sheriff’s office

The Lancaster County Sheriff’s Office advertises found property on its website, www.lacoso.net. A list of the property, which has been recovered by deputies and placed into evidence for safekeeping, can be seen in the news section of the sheriff’s office website.

Rightful owners can contact the evidence and property unit at (803) 313-2102 to describe the item and claim ownership. The sheriff’s office is allowed by state law to dispose of the property after a 90-day period, after exhausting all reasonable efforts to find the legal owner.

DAV posts schedule for van to Columbia

The Disabled American Veterans van travels from Lancaster County to Dorn VA Medical Center in Columbia on Wednesdays and Thursdays, and to Rock Hill on Fridays for scheduled doctor appointments. For details, call (803) 283-2469.
