County Council to meet Nov. 13

Lancaster County Council meets at 6 p.m. Nov. 13 on the second floor of the Lancaster County Administration Building, 101 N. Main St., Lancaster. Airport Commission meets Nov. 14

The Lancaster County Airport Commission meets at 2 p.m.  Nov. 14 in the Lancaster County Airport conference room, 286 Aviation Blvd., Lancaster. The agenda is posted in the lobby of the Lancaster County Administration Building and the county website, www.mylancastersc.org. 

County Council committees to meet

The following Lancaster County Council committees will meet in the Lancaster County Administration Building, 101 N. Main St., Lancaster: 

- The Infrastructure and Regulation Committee meets at 3 p.m. Nov. 14.

- The Public Safety Committee meets at 5 p.m. Nov. 14 in the council conference room.

- The Administration Committee meets at 6 p.m. Nov. 16 in the council conference room.

Historical group meets Nov. 14

The Lancaster County Historical Commission meets at 6 p.m. Nov. 14 at the Historic Courthouse, 100 N. Main St., Lancaster.

Joint Recreation Commission meets

The Lancaster County Joint Recreation Commission meets at 6:30 p.m. Nov. 14 at Springdale Recreation Center, 260 S. Plantation Road, Lancaster.

IL fire district board to meet Nov. 14

The Indian Land Fire Protection District Commission meets at 7 p.m. Nov. 14 at the Indian Land Volunteer Fire Department, 185 Six Mile Creek Road, Indian Land.

County school board meets Nov. 14

The Lancaster County school board meets at 7 p.m. Nov. 14 in the district office, 300 S. Catawba St., Lancaster. For details or to sign up in advance to speak during open session, call (803) 286-6972.

Community relations commission meets

The Lancaster County Community Relations Commission meets at 6:30 p.m. Nov. 16 in the Lancaster County Administration Building, 101 N. Main St., Lancaster.

IL Action Council meets Nov. 16

The Indian Land Action Council meets at 7 p.m. Nov. 16 at Del Webb Library at Indian Land, 7641 Charlotte Highway. Speaker will be Lancaster County Sheriff Barry Faile.

The Pleasant Valley Fire Protection District Commission meets at 7 p.m. Nov. 21 at the Pleasant Valley Volunteer Fire Department, 9370 Possum Hollow Road, Indian Land.

County Health commission meets

The Lancaster County Health and Wellness Commission meets at 11:45 a.m. Dec. 13 at the Lancaster Council on Aging, 309 S. Plantation Road, Lancaster.

CCA offers help with energy bills

The Lancaster County office of Carolina Community Actions Inc. is taking applications to help low-income families with home energy bills and other programs and services. Family households must be income-eligible and provide supporting documents to qualify. Apply 9 a.m.-4 p.m. Monday-Thursday at 101 Wylie St., Lancaster. For details, call (803) 285-2034.

Senior rental help available

The Lieutenant Governor’s Office on Aging administers an emergency rental assistance program for seniors funded through the S.C. Finance and Development Authority.

The program provides short-term help to low-income seniors ages 60 and older. It provides money for rent, which is sent to the property owner or landlord.

Recover lost property from sheriff’s office

The Lancaster County Sheriff’s Office advertises found property on its website, www.lacoso.net. A list of the property, which has been recovered by deputies and placed into evidence for safekeeping, can be seen in the news section of the sheriff’s office website.

Rightful owners can contact the evidence and property unit at (803) 313-2102 to describe the item and claim ownership. The sheriff’s office is allowed by state law to dispose of the property after a 90-day period, after exhausting all reasonable efforts to find the legal owner.

DAV posts schedule for van to Columbia

The Disabled American Veterans van travels from Lancaster County to Dorn VA Medical Center in Columbia on Wednesdays and Thursdays, and to Rock Hill on Fridays for scheduled doctor appointments. For details, call (803) 283-2469.
