Ione Ruth Crim Dawson, 87

Retired director of the Department of Volunteer Services

WAXHAW – Ione Ruth Crim Dawson, 87, died Sunday, June 24, 2012, at Presbyterian Hospital.  
Born Jan. 10, 1925, in Denver, Colo., she was the daughter of the late Lawrence F. Crim and Verna Z. Crawford Crim. She was married to the late George Dawson. She was a retired director of the Department of Volunteer Services in Rochester, N.Y., and was known in Union County, N.C., for her genealogy services. She was a Master Gardener founder and a member of Metrolina Native American Association, Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR) and the Netrone County Wyoming Pioneer Association.   
Survivors include a son, Phillip Dawson of Livingston, Mont.; two brothers, Donald Crim and Lawrence Crim, both of Las Vegas; and several foster children.
Her ashes will be taken back to the Tea Pot Dome in Wyoming, her childhood home, at a later date.
