Indian Land Middle School has named its teacher and support staff member of the year for 2012.
Nominated by their peers, the school’s 2011-12 Teacher of the Year is instructional facilitator Cindy Bush and the 2011-12 Support Staff Member of the Year is administrative assistant Laura Loughry.
Teacher of the Year
Bush’s nomination said she works “tirelessly to help the school, staff and students.”
A storehouse of information on current educational trends, Bush’s fellow teachers say she is a great resource for the school. They also cited Bush’s professional attitude and never-ending support for them and the students.
“I have watched this person blossom in their position, always eager to learn, always eager to assist, and always an amazing professional,” ILMS Principal David McDonald said. “I have come to respect and appreciate their opinion, their attitude and their professionalism.
“In a school where we recognize the importance of changing the world and working to help students achieve, I am proud to have the opportunity to work with this person,” he said.
“It is with honor that I proudly present the 2011-2012 Indian Land Middle School Teacher of the Year award to Ms. Cindy Bush.”

McDonald said Loughry is an invaluable asset to the school. He said she’s “always organized, always helpful, always does work with a smile,” even if it’s a chore that is not one of her jobs.
He said she is kind and helpful to the students and their parents and her positive attitude and reputation as a team player are a “true hallmark to our school.”
“I personally want to say that this person is my right hand,” McDonald said in presenting the award. “I could never get it all done without this person. I am honored to know this person and even more honored to celebrate her tonight.
“While there are many terrific staff members here who work with our kids each and every day, I am truly blessed to have this person nearby,” he said of Loughry. “Thank you for all that you do to support teaching and learning in our school and for your amazing work as a member of the ILMS team.”
