ILHS booters sweep BC Bearcats

The host Indian Land Warriors soccer teams scored a pair of wins over Brookland-Cayce in prep soccer play at the ILHS Reservation on Feb. 28.
The ILHS Lady Warriors, in a rematch of the Class AAA girls state title match last season, rolled to a 6-1 win over the Lady Bearcats.
The Indian Land girls, who downed BC, 2-1 (5-3 in penalty kicks) last spring at Irmo High School, blitzed the Lady Bearcats last week.
The Lady Warriors had three goals from Kailee Erwin, two from Brianna Bishop and a goal from Emily Gerdes in the rout.
Bishop had an assist for IL, which outshot the Lady Bearcats, 24-6.
Emma Thompson had five saves, while BC’s Alyssa Stevens posted 10.
In the boys match, the Warriors blanked the Bearcats, 6-0.
The Warriors had 18 shots on goal to five for BC.
Indian Land broke on top 4-0 at the half on goals by Gavin Dunlop, Payton Arnold, Joe Tombs and Addison Guild.
In the second half, Nick Arias and Brandon Sanchez each tallied a goal for ILHS.
Buddy Flow, Previs Suvillaga, Jacob Huebsch, Gavin Dunlop and Guild each had an assist.
Flow posted three first-half saves and Gabe Burris added one in the second half.
The Warriors were slated to face Buford on Thursday, but the match was canceled due to rain and wet field conditions.
The Warriors host Camden Military on Monday at 6 p.m. and York on Wednesday at 7 p.m.
