Easy Pickin's band to perform downtown Friday

By Jesef Williams

The sounds of bluegrass, soul and rock will greet you as you make your way to downtown Lancaster on select evenings this summer.
The city of Lancaster is preparing to launch the second year of its Finally Friday summer series. The events, held on the last Friday of the month, will feature live music along with a variety of food and arts and crafts.
The events, to run each time from 6 to 9 p.m., will take place at the intersection of Main and Gay streets in Lancaster. They are free of charge and open to the public.
Easy Pickin’s, a bluegrass band based in the Upstate, kicks off the 2012 series as the performing act Friday, June 29.
The five-piece group features two guitarists, a fiddler, a banjo player and a mandolin player. Four of the members provide vocals.
“We choose to do bluegrass because it’s fun,” the group said. “We have all been inspired at one point in our lives to perform bluegrass music.”
On July 27, R&B/soul group Cleo White and the Identity Band will perform. Then, on Aug. 31, The Undercover Band is set to perform. The Charlotte-based group plays a variety of party music. Local group Tetrox, which plays beach and rock music, closes out this year’s series Sept. 28.
“This is our second year doing the series,” said Finally Friday organizer Caroline Hasty. “We’re very excited to bring different types of music styles to the stage.”
Arts and crafts and food vendors will also be part of the Finally Friday events. If you are interested in selling food or goods, access an application on the city of Lancaster’s website at lancastercitysc.com.
