Dorothy Hallman Privette, 87

LANCASTER – Dorothy Hallman Privette, 87, died Wednesday, Jan. 11, 2012, at Springs Memorial Hospital.
Born Aug. 12, 1924, in Lancaster County, she was the daughter of the late Ebenezer Erskine Hallman and Nellie Helms Hallman. She was married twice, first to the late Afred C. McDow and then to Hazel Robert Privette. She was a retired telephone operator, co-owner of H&D Appliance and served in the U.S. Army. She was a member of Unity ARP Church.
Survivors include a brother, Hugh Hallman of Lancaster; her caregiver, Donna Smith of Lancaster; a stepson, Allen Privette and his wife, Leta, of Waxhaw, N.C.; and two stepdaughters, Diane Murray and her husband, Michael, of Charlotte and Iris Shelly and her husband, Russell, of Bethlehem, Pa.
She was preceded in death by a brother, Hinckle Hallman.
Services will be at 3 p.m. Friday, Jan. 13, at Unity ARP Church, conducted by the Rev. Charles Hammond, with burial in the church cemetery.
The family will receive friends one hour before services in the church fellowship hall.
