Belair UMC holds VBS this week
Belair United Methodist Church, 8095 Shelley Mullis Road, will hold Vacation Bible School from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. July 16-20. “Operation Overboard: Dare to Go Deep with God” is open to children from 3 years old to 12th-graders.

Kay Kauffman with the Saemann Foundation presents a $2,000 check to Vicar Josh Tucker of Crossroads Lutheran Church, to help with the cost of Agape Kure Beach Ministries summer day camp.  The camp, for children in first through sixth grades, will be held from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. July 30-Aug. 3 at Crossroads Lutheran Church, 8511 Shelley Mullis Road. Registration fee is $35 for the week (scholarships are available). Visit Crossroads-Lutheran.org for details and sign-up information. 

Belair food pantry open Thursday
The food pantry at Belair United Methodist Church, 8095 Shelley Mullis Road, will be open from 9 a.m. to noon July 19. If you are in need or know somebody in need of food, please come by. Donations to replenish the pantry are also welcome.

Higher Ground VBS will be July 23-27
Higher Ground Church, 8365 Possum Hollow Road, will hold Vacation Bible School from 6:15 to 8:45 p.m. July 23-27. “SonRise National Park” will be an exciting adventure for children ages kindergarten through fifth grade. Call (803) 802-3189 to obtain a registration form.

Osceola UMC to hold VBS July 22-27

Christian Women’s Club lunch Tuesday
The Lancaster Christian Women’s Club will hold its monthly luncheon from 11:30 to 1 p.m. Tuesday, July 24, at Captain’s Galley Restaurant, 1305 S.C. 9.

El Bethel AME Zion to hold VBS July 25-27

Faith sponsors free band concert July 28
Faith Presbyterian Church of Indian Land will host the Smithills School Senior Brass Band from Bolton, England, in a free concert at 7 p.m. July 28 at Unity Presbyterian Church, 303 Tom Hall St., Fort Mill.
The 43 band members, ages 12-18, will stay in the homes of host families from the church. Donations will be accepted to help the band with tour expenses.

Crossroads offers summer day camp

Register now for All Saints’ VBS
All Saints Lutheran Church, 17030 Lancaster Highway, Charlotte, will hold its “God’s Water Works” Vacation Bible School from 6 to 8 p.m. July 30-Aug. 2 for ages 4 through fifth grade.
The evenings will begin with a light supper, followed by skits, lessons and crafts. The pastor will lead a class during VBS for adults who bring children.

Transformation holds school supply drive
Transformation Church, 9030 Northfield Drive in the Perimeter 521 Business Park, is holding a school supply drive. Harrison UMC to host women’s conference
Harrison United Methodist Church-Pineville will host the “Be Refreshed” women’s conference from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Aug. 4. Women of all ages are invited to the free event. An optional workbook is available for $15, as well as lunch for $5 each. A love offering will be taken.
Leader will be Sandy Witherspoon, director of training at Grace Life International. During lunch, there will be a “Refresh Your Furnishings” session. At the end of the day, there will be a “Refresh Your Fluff” talk and a Born Again Bargain Bazaar.

Crossroads offers prayer training course
Crossroads Lutheran in Indian Land and Amazing Grace Lutheran in Waxhaw are sponsoring a training course on prayer, “An Adventure in Prayer.”
Dr. Bill Fleming, director of pastoral studies at New Life Theological Seminary in Charlotte, leads the study from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Wednesdays through Aug. 22.
The course focuses on meditation and prayer as life skills to enrich your spiritual life.

Christ Life offers youth crusade
Christ Life Evangelical Ministries will hold a “keeping it Real” youth and children’s crusade from 9:30 a.m. to noon Aug. 13-17 at Gateway Church of God, 8558 Shelley Mullis Road.
Ages 3-18 are welcome, but children not potty-trained need to be accompanied by an adult.

Faith Presbyterian Church is taking applications for its Mother’s Morning Out program, which will be offered from 9 a.m. to noon on Wednesdays from September through May. Children should be either 2 or 3 years old on Sept. 1, 2012, to qualify. Cost is $40 per month. Crossroads Lutheran offers new service

Need a place to meditate or pray?
All are invited to visit the new Community Prayer Garden and Stations of the Cross on the grounds of Crossroads Lutheran Church, 8511 Shelley Mullis Road. The garden is open from 8 a.m. to sunset daily. Booklets with reflections and prayers for the walk are available at the entrance to the prayer garden. The garden is on the right side of the church building, with parking in the church parking lot.
