Belair UMC plans June events
Belair United Methodist Church, 8095 Shelley Mullis Road, will hold the following events this month:
• Thursday, June 14: The JOY (Just Older Youth) Group will have a potluck lunch at the church at 11:30 a.m. Bring a covered dish to share.
• June 21: The food pantry will not be open due to low food supplies and because the Second Harvest food truck will be at the church on June 28. If anyone would like to donate any food, the church is open from 8 a.m. to noon Tuesday-Thursday. Call (803) 547-6631 for other times the church might be open.
• June 28: Belair will host the Second Harvest Food Bank with Faith Presbyterian Church in the parking lot at Belair from 9 a.m. until noon or whenever the food runs out.
Belair holds Sunday school at 9:15 a.m. and a church service at 10:15 a.m. each Sunday.
Register now for Mother’s Morning Out
Faith Presbyterian Church is taking applications for its Mother’s Morning Out program, offered from 9 a.m. to noon Wednesdays September through May. Children should be either 2 or 3 years old on Sept. 1, 2012, to qualify. Cost is $40 per month. Pleasant Hill UMC to host Salkehatchie
Pleasant Hill United Methodist Church, 238 Fort Mill Highway (S.C. 160), will host the Catawba Salkehatchie Camp on June 17-23. Osceola UMC to hold yard sale June 23

Christian Women’s luncheon June 26
The next Lancaster Christian Women’s Connection meeting will be from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. June 26 at Captain’s Galley Restaurant, 1305 S.C. 9 Bypass, Lancaster. The cost is $9.50.
The theme is “Beautiful America.” The feature is “Beauty in the Skies” with George Flanders. Ginny Karelius of Fort Mill will speak on “Beauty Within Ourselves – How to Lose Weight Without Getting Wrinkles.” Elaine Reese will provide the musical selection, “Beauty in Our Souls.”

Second Harvest food pantry here June 28
Faith Presbyterian and Belair United Methodist churches will sponsor their second mobile food pantry this year on June 28.
The Second Harvest of Metrolina food truck will be in the parking lot of Belair, 8095 Shelley Mullis Road. The church is a half mile east of the traffic light at the Food Lion store on U.S. 521.
Registration will begin at 8:30 a.m. and the food distribution will begin about 9 a.m. Food is distributed on a first come, first served basis until it is gone.
Recipients must meet the income eligibility requirements established by the USDA. An acceptable form of ID is required at the time of registration. The main intent of this distribution is to serve Indian Land families in need of food but, it is open to all who come.
This is the second mobile food pantry sponsored by these two churches this year. The third and final distribution for this year will be Oct. 11.
Belair also operates a food pantry for Indian Land residents twice a month on the first and third Thursday mornings. Donations of food or cash may be dropped off at the church office.

Pleasant Hill UMC VBS set for July 8-12
Pleasant Hill United Methodist Church, 238 Fort Mill Highway (S.C. 160), will hold its Vacation Bible School on July 8-12.
VBS volunteer training will be held after the 11 a.m. worship service Sunday, June 10. Bring your own lunch to the training.
All Saints offers early VBS registration
All Saints Lutheran Church, 17030 Lancaster Highway, Charlotte, will hold its “God’s Water Works” Vacation Bible School from 6 to 8 p.m. July 30-Aug. 2 for ages 4 through fifth grade.
The evenings will begin with a light fellowship supper, followed by skits, lessons and crafts.
The pastor will lead a class during VBS for adults who bring children.

Harrison UMC to host women’s conference
Harrison United Methodist Church-Pineville will host the Be Refreshed women’s conference from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Aug. 4. Women of all ages are invited to the free event. An optional workbook is available for $15, as well as lunch for $5 per person. A love offering will be taken.
Featured leader will be Sandy Witherspoon, director of training at Grace Life International. The conference is for women who are hungry for a deeper intimacy with God, those who are tired from trying hard to live the Christian life, and for women who are hurting or struggling.
Attendees will learn how to break free from unhealthy patterns of living which keep you from enjoying true intimacy with God and with other people. During lunch, there will be a “Refresh Your Furnishings” session. At the end of the day, there will be a “Refresh Your Fluff” talk and a Born Again Bargain Bazaar.
Feel free to bring your gently worn scarves, jewelry and pocketbooks to donate. You will be able to choose from the donated items and make purchases for a maximum of $5 per item. Proceeds will benefit the Women’s Ministry at Harrison UMC.

Trinity to hold VBS in August

Need a place to meditate or pray?
All are invited to visit the new Community Prayer Garden and Stations of the Cross on the grounds of Crossroads Lutheran Church, 8511 Shelley Mullis Road. The garden is open from 8 a.m. to sunset daily. Booklets with reflections and prayers for the walk are available at the entrance to the prayer garden. The garden is on the right side of the church building, with parking in the church parking lot.
