IL ribbon-cuttings set for Aug. 4

Doster’s customer drop-in Aug. 4

Bob Doster’s Backstreet Galleries and Garden, 217 E. Gay St., Lancaster, will hold a customer appreciation drop-in from 6-8 p.m. Aug. 4. Customers are invited to stop by the newly renovated galleries and garden to listen to live music by Chase Killough. Hors d’oeuvres and beverages will be served. Murdock holds school supply drive

Murdock Orthodontics, along with Transformation Church in Indian Land and the Lancaster County Outreach Project, is holding its annual school supply drive through Aug. 4.  

Items can be dropped off at either Murdock Orthodontics office, 8390 Charlotte Highway, Suite 100, Indian Land, or 727 Gillsbrook Road, Lancaster.

Operation Palmetto Employment Aug. 10

Operation Palmetto Employment will be 10 a.m.-noon Aug. 10 at the American Legion, 524 Heckle Blvd., Rock Hill. This statewide employment initiative is designed to educate, connect and support South Carolina’s military job seekers and civilian employers. Murdock holds  selfie contest

Murdock Orthodontics is holding its Summer Selfie Contest through Aug. 13. It’s a contest for one of its patients to win a chauffeured ride and two floor-seats to see Ed Sheeran live in concert Sept. 3. 

To enter, patients upload a selfie of themselves wearing Murdock Orthodontics gear and tag @murdockortho on Instagram or Murdock Orthodontics on Facebook and use the hashtag #mosummer. The more gear they sport, the more entries they get. 

A free pair of sunglasses and a $5 hat can be picked up in the Indian Land or Lancaster offices. 

All proceeds from the hats go toward the practice’s local charity of the month.

Farmstand open on Marvin Road

The Indian Land Farmstand, 228 Marvin Road, run by S.C. Truffieres & Howell Specialty Farmz, offers fresh vegetables, including purple tomatoes, eggs and honey. It is open 10 a.m.-6 p.m. Thursdays and Fridays and 10 a.m.-3 p.m. Sundays.

Steele Hill Farmer’s market now open

County Farmers Market expands days

Lancaster County’s Farmers Market, 1920 Pageland Highway, has added an additional day to its summer schedule. The market is now open 7 a.m.-1 p.m. Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays through August.

SCCL Fresh Produce Market now open

Sun City Carolina Lakes Fresh Produce Market is open 9 a.m.-noon Wednesdays through September in the parking lot and pavilion of the Sun City Lodge on the corner of Del Webb and Sun City boulevards.

It has local vendors’ booths offering vegetables, breads, take-home foods, eggs, fresh-baked goods, dressings, olive oils/vinegars, nuts, cheese, pickles and knife sharpening. The market is open to all, not just Sun City residents. For details, call (704) 651-6671.
