U.S. postage rates have increased
As of Jan 22, U.S. postage rates changed to the following:
• Letters (1 ounce) – 1-cent increase to 45 cents
• Letters additional ounces – unchanged at 20 cents
• Postcards – 3-cent increase to 32 cents
• Letters to Canada or Mexico (1 ounce) – 5-cent increase to 85 cents.
• Letters to other international destinations – 7-cent increase to $1.05
• Prices also will change for other mailing services, including standard mail, periodicals, package services and extra services.
Express and priority mail prices have not changed.

Appliance rebate program ends Feb. 5
South Carolina residents planning to purchase new ENERGY STAR qualified appliances will be eligible to receive rebates ranging from $50 to $100 through Sunday, Feb. 5, through the state’s remaining portion of the appliance rebate stimulus program.
Qualifying appliances include ENERGY STAR-labeled clothes washers, dishwashers, refrigerators and window air-conditioning units. Eligible clothes washers will receive a $100 rebate, while dishwashers, refrigerators and room air-conditioning units will receive $50 rebates.
The customer must submit a rebate application and corresponding receipt postmarked within five calendar days of the purchase date. The application can be found at www.energy.sc.gov/rebates.
