Indian Land – Arnold Ty Christensen, 69, of Sun City Carolina Lakes died Thursday, Feb. 2, 2012, at Carolinas Medical Center in Charlotte, N.C., after a battle with leukemia.
Born in East Northport, Long Island, N.Y., he was the son of the late Arnold and Astrid Christensen of Stokke, Norway, and was raised on the family farm in Guilford, N.Y. He was married to Jeanne Christensen.
Survivors include his wife; a son, Mark Christensen and his fiancée, Roxanne Rapan, of San Francisco; two daughters, Carol Ann Hankins and her husband, Rocky, of Drumright, Okla., and Deborah Christensen of Monroe, N.C.; a grandson, Cameron Hankins; two sisters, Alice Haskin of Bellevue, Wash., and Katherine Wildenstein of Bainbridge, N.Y.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Arthur Christensen.
A memorial service will be held at 4 p.m. Monday, Feb. 6, at Gordon Funeral Service and Crematory, 1904 Lancaster Ave., Monroe. A reception will follow in the media center at Central Academy of Technology & Arts, 600 Brewer Drive, Monroe.
