Bristol’s For Joy in Van Wyck aimed at special-needs kids

By Hannah Strong

A new animal farm dedicated to children with special needs is coming alive in Van Wyck.
Bristol’s For Joy, started by Rebecca Templeton Barrows, will have its grand opening and fundraiser 9 a.m.-4 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 16, on its 20-acre location, 4704 Three Crow Road.
Barrows was inspired to start the farm after quickly realizing there weren’t many places that catered to her 6-year-old daughter, Bristol, who is autistic.
Barrows, who is originally from England, said a friend with a similar farm in Charlotte inspired her.
