All school district e-mail addresses to change

The Lancaster County School District is changing its e-mail addresses effective Monday, Feb. 6.
The change will affect employee e-mail addresses district-wide, including those of administrative personnel, teachers and staff.
The district’s new e-mail addresses use the following new format: “Firstname.Lastname@lcsdmail.net.”  
Slight variations in the name portion of the address will be allowed to differentiate personnel who share the same first and last names.
District officials said e-mails sent to addresses using the current “@lcsd.k12.sc.us” extension will be forwarded for only a short time after the switch and will then cease to function.
Since employees can currently access both old and new e-mail accounts, school officials recommend parents and others in contact with district personnel through e-mail make the appropriate changes in their address books immediately.
Lancaster County School District Public Relations Director David Knight said the change is being made because the district is replacing its outdated network servers and the outgoing e-mail system is no longer supported.
